Kelis Welcomes A Baby Boy

via MediaTakeOut

Kelis gave birth to Knight Jones last night on July 22nd around 9PM, weighing a healthy 7.8 lbs. The beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful. This was a natural birth and Kelis has been in labor since early Monday morning around 2AM. Knight was delivered in a NYC hospital with her mother and sister in the room. This is the mother’s first child.”

According to other sources, Nas was drunk when he entered the hospital to join Kelis during labor and that’s the reason he was not allowed to be apart of his son’s delivery. Come on Nas… GET IT TOGETHER…

The saga continues...

As I reported earlier this week, Kelis missed a court date for divorce proceedings due to her being in labor and apparently the judge saw fit to rule in her favor. The judge presiding over Nas and Kelis' divorce just awarded Kelis $55,000.00 a month in child and spousal support.

And there’s more. Nas also has to pay the mortgage on Kelis' house in LA and pay for the baby’s nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance, and Kelis' lawyer $35,000.00 in legal fees.

Thats a proper come up.

R.I.P E. Lynn Harris

via E. Lynn Harris
E. Lynn Harris was born in Flint, Michigan and raised, along with three sisters, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was the school's first black yearbook editor, the first black male Razorbacks cheerleader, and the president of his fraternity. He graduated with honors with a degree in journalism.

Harris sold computers for IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and AT&T for thirteen years while living in Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. He finally quit his sales job to write his first novel, Invisible Life, and, failing to find a publisher, he published it himself in 1991 and sold it mostly at black-owned bookstores, beauty salons, and book clubs before he was "discovered" by Anchor Books. Anchor published Invisible Life as a trade paperback in 1994, and thus his career as an author officially began.

Invisible Life was followed by Just As I Am (1994), And This Too Shall Pass (1996), If This World Were Mine (1997), Abide with Me (1999), Not A Day Goes By (2000), Any Way the Wind Blows (2001), A Love of My Own (2002), I Say A Little Prayer (2006) and Just Too Good To Be True (2008), all published by Doubleday. All ten of Harris's novels have hit the New York Times bestseller list, and they have also appeared on the bestseller lists of the Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. In 2003, Harris published his first work of nonfiction, a memoir entitled What Becomes of the Brokenhearted, which was also a New York Times bestseller. Today, there are more than four million copies of his books in print, and his latest, Basketball Jones, will be released in January 2009.

Harris's writing has also appeared in Essence, Washington Post Sunday Magazine, and Sports Illustrated, as well as in the award-winning anthology Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men in America, Go The Way Your Blood Beats. His novella, "Money Can't Buy Me Love" was published in Got To Be Real: Four Original Love Stories. Freedom in This Village, a collection of short stories edited by Harris, was released in the fall of 2004. His short fiction appeared in Gumbo: A Celebration of African American Writers (Harlem Moon), a 2002 collection he edited with writer Marita Golden.

Harris has won numerous accolades and prizes for his work. Just As I Am was awarded the Novel of the Year Prize by the Blackboard African-American Bestsellers, Inc. If This World Were Mine was nominated for a NAACP Image Award and won the James Baldwin Award for Literary Excellence. Abide with Me was also nominated for a NAACP Image Award. His anthology Freedom in this Village won the Lambda Literary Award in 2005. In 1999, the University of Arkansas honored Harris with a Citation of Distinguished Alumni for outstanding professional achievement, and in October 2000 he was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame. Over the past three years, he has also been named to Ebony's "Most Intriguing Blacks" list, Out Magazine's "Out 100" list, New York Magazine's "Gay Power 101" list, and Savoy's "100 Leaders and Heroes in Black America" list. Other honors have included the Sprague Todes Literary Award, the Harvey Milk Honorary Diploma, and The Silas Hunt Award for Outstanding Achievement from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Harris is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hurston/Wright Foundation and the Evidence Dance Company. He is the founder of the E. Lynn Harris Better Days Foundation, a nonprofit company that provides support to aspiring writers and artists.

A popular college lecturer, Harris has spoken at Arkansas State University, Ball State University, Carnegie Mellon University, College of William and Mary, Duke University, Florida A&M, George Washington University, Hampton University, Harvard University, Kent State University, Louisiana State, Morehouse College, Ohio State, Princeton University, South Carolina State, Spelman College, Stanford University, Tennessee State University, Tufts University, University of Arkansas, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Illinois, University of North Texas, University of Pittsburg, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Tennessee-Chattooga, and Virginia Tech.

He divides his time between Atlanta, Georgia, and Fayetteville, Arkansas.

E. Lynn Harris passed while here in California on a business trip doing book promotions. Details of the cause of death have not been made public.

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am an avid reader and the literary community and just suffered the major loss of an extraordinary, gifted, and creative individual. Mr. Harris' literary genius will most certainly be missed. I appreciate his talent, work, and courage. He will truly be missed and my condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans.

After years of speculation and denials, it appears R&B singer Ne-Yo finally slipped up! This is a photo Ne-Yo took himself with a cameraphone. As you can see, the background appears to be an intimate setting in a home with dim lighting. Ne-Yo and his new girlfriend are chest to chest, she’s caressing his neck, and he’s virtually picking her up off the ground with a big grin on his face that appears to be saying “Yeah I’m gay but you’ll never find out because she looks like a woman!”
That’s right! The girl in the picture isn’t a girl at all! As a matter of fact, this transgendered escort doesn’t even have breasts! It’s a teen black boy with a weave!! I guess Ne-Yo got tired of people hounding him about his sexuality and with all the hoopla surrounding the topic I would imagine it was probably difficult for him to associate with guys to get his fill of D*CK so he found a quick fix.

It appears as if Ne-Yo has finally come out of the closet and outted himself. He can dropped the sherade because we've known about him and his extra curricular activities for years now. He has fooled no one.

A Message From Chris Brown

Chris Brown issued a very sympathetic and seemingly genuine apology to Rihanna and the fans for his actions and stresses that he is seeking help. I think it is time that we put this whole fiasco behind us and get back to the music and entertainment. Chris has paid the price for his actions and should not have to continue to scrutinized. Check the video for his apology.

R.I.P Arturo Gatti

via Egypt Said So

Over this past weekend one of Boxing’s greatest warriors, Arturo “Thunder” Gatti was murdered in Brazil in a huge blow to the sports world. Well more details are coming out about the main suspect in the case his wife, Amanda Rodrigues Gatti.

In addition to tales of insane jealousy and extreme anger, it has been said that she forced him to cut off his 3-year-old daughter Sophia. Why would a woman make a man do that? Not the mother of the child but the baby.

To further illustrate the ruthless nature of this woman, she is accused of choking Gatti to death when he passed out drunk on their 2nd honeymoon. This is a much more evil crime then just shooting him, she is accused of killing him by using the strap from her purse.

Nothing can ruin a man’s life quicker then finding the wrong woman. This man survived savage beatings by some of the best fighters in the world including Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya but then he marries the wrong woman and she kills him while he’s sleep. I know people may think this is sexist but its not. I hope they prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law and put her under the jail.

Losing two prominate athletes at the hands of crazy ass women this month, I hope this isn't turning into some sort of trend, killing a man if you don't get your way.

Sanchez Pitches A No Hitter In San Francisco

via Fox Sports Network

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Jonathan Sanchez, an unlikely candidate, pitched the majors' first no-hitter this season Friday night, dominating the San Diego Padres with an array of pitches in the San Francisco Giants' 8-0 victory.

The 26-year-old left-hander returned to the rotation after a nearly three-week demotion to the bullpen - and he only got the call because 303-game winner Randy Johnson went on the disabled list earlier this week with a shoulder injury.

Gold Glove center fielder Aaron Rowand saved the no-hitter with a leaping catch at the center-field fence to rob pinch-hitter Edgar Gonzalez for the second out of the ninth inning.

Sanchez nearly tossed a perfect game - the only runner the Padres managed came on an error by third baseman Juan Uribe in the eighth.

Sanchez threw the Giants' 13th no-hitter and first since John Montefusco did it on Sept. 29, 1976, at Atlanta. It was their first no-hitter in San Francisco since Ed Halicki beat the New York Mets in the second game of a doubleheader on Aug. 24, 1975.

The Padres failed to get a hit for the first time since Bud Smith blanked them 4-0 pitching for St. Louis on Sept. 3, 2001, and the seventh occasion in franchise history.

McNair Murder Suicide Saga Continues

via Nicole Bitchie

Via Bitchie Mail:

Hey Necole,
I’m from Nashville; I saw your story and thought I would give you a little further insight. Steve McNair just opened a restaurant named Gridiron9, he was there almost everyday and used that as his excuse for being away from his WOMEN so much. The Escalade was NOT paid for, he co-signed for her and not to sound like a golddigger but it wasn’t even a new one, it was a ‘07 and he simply co-signed for it, his sneaky butt also put it under his restaurant’s name as a business vehicle. Of course he would help her with the payments every once in a while, the thought of him leaving her with the that high ass lease was extra stress, on top of her roommate planning to move, having to pay the note on her Kia she was leasing before she met him. She left her boyfriend that she moved down here with from Jacksonville when she felt like she hit the jackpot with McNair. He started coming back around and she found out that there was another side ho besides herself and ended up receiving a DUI. She asked a guy she worked with if he knew where she could get a gun being that she was only 20 and he said he would sell her his for $100. She shot him 4 times then sat down beside him and shot herself. Oh yea…and McNair wasn’t sneaky with it, he flew her family down for her birthday and they all had a good time around town and she saw her mother get killed when she was little in Iran or Iraq or wherever, u know they have no problem with killing themselves
Wow! This whole situation is crazier than a Lifetime movie. I don’t think anyone could make up a better script. SMH…

I couldn't agree more Nicole. This whole situation is so tragic.

Steve McNair Murder Mystery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair’s(notes) shooting death was a homicide, police said Sunday, but authorities stopped short of saying it was a murder-suicide committed by the 20-year-old girlfriend found dead by his side.

McNair, 36, was shot four times, twice in the head, by a semiautomatic pistol, Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said. The woman, Sahel Kazemi, was killed by a single gunshot wound and the pistol was found under her body, Aaron said. Aaron said the two had been in a “dating relationship for past several months.”

Asked if the deaths could have caused by a lover’s quarrel, Aaron said, “That’s a very important part of the investigation as we work to ultimately classify Miss Kazemi’s death.”

Police said they need to do more interviews with friends of Kazemi and McNair before they rule on whether her death was a suicide, Aaron said.

McNair, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, was married with four children. He and Kazemi were found dead Saturday afternoon at a Nashville condominium he shared with a friend, and police said Sunday that it appears the two died in the early morning.

Police earlier said they weren’t looking for any suspects and do not believe McNair’s wife was involved. Mechelle McNair, mother of two of his four sons, was expected to collect her husband’s belongings from authorities. Funeral arrangements were not expected to be finalized until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

“She’s still very upset, very distraught,” agent Bus Cook said.

McNair led the famous Tennessee Titans’ drive that came a yard short of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl, before the Titans traded him to the Baltimore Ravens in 2006. “On the field, there isn’t a player that was as tough as him,” the Ravens’ Derrick Mason(notes) said.

McNair retired last year and had recently opened a restaurant in Nashville, where he shared a condo with a friend.

A man who answered the door at a house in the Jacksonville, Fla., suburb of Orange Park said it was the home of Kazemi’s family, but said her relatives did not want to comment.

“We don’t have anything to say, please leave us alone,” he said.

A Nashville neighbor saw McNair, 36, at Kazemi’s Nashville apartment so often—two to three times a week—that she thought McNair had moved in. McNair never tried to hide his presence but kept to himself.

Neighbor Reagan Howard said Kazemi often was dropped off in the early morning hours by a limousine and upgraded recently from her Kia to a Cadillac Escalade.

“It was pretty obvious that she was taken with him,” Howard said.

McNair and Kazemi had been together just two days earlier, when she was pulled over driving a 2007 Escalade registered to her and McNair. She was arrested on a DUI charges, and he was allowed to leave in a taxi.

The bodies were discovered by McNair’s longtime friend, Wayne Neeley, who rents the condo in the upscale Rutledge Hill neighborhood with McNair.

Neeley then called Robert Gaddy, who had been friends with McNair since they played at Alcorn State. Gaddy alerted authorities.

“People have certain things that they do in life,” Gaddy told The Associated Press on Sunday. “We don’t need to look on the situation at this time (but) on the fact we just lost a great member of society.”

Cook said he was not aware that McNair was seeing Kazemi, a woman whose name the agent learned about through reports of the shooting.

“It doesn’t make any sense. I don’t know what to say,” Cook said.

Police said a witness saw McNair arrive at the condo between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Saturday and that Kazemi’s vehicle was already there. The condominium is located within walking distance of an area filled with restaurants and nightspots, a few blocks from the Cumberland River and within view of the Titans’ stadium.

Fred McNair, Steve McNair’s oldest brother, said some family members would likely travel to Nashville on Monday to consult with Mechelle.

“It’s still kind of hard to believe,” Fred McNair said. “He was the greatest person in the world. He gave back to the community. He loved kids and he wanted to be a role model to kids.”

McNair and his wife split their time between Nashville and their farm in Mount Olive, Miss., according to a statement from the Titans.

An arrest affidavit from Thursday said Kazemi had bloodshot eyes and alcohol on her breath when she was pulled over, but refused a breathalyzer test, saying “she was not drunk, she was high.”

McNair and his family frequented the restaurant where Kazemi was a waitress, according to employees and patrons of Dave & Buster’s in Nashville.

“She was reliable 90 percent of the time,” manager Chris Truelove said of Kazemi. “She was pretty outgoing. A lot of the guests liked being around her, and she liked being around the guests.”

Co-worker Shantez Jobe, 33, said she was friends with Kazemi.

“We talked about who had more fashion sense, and who was the cutest, and who could get more boys, you know some of the stuff girls do,” Jobe said.

In June, McNair opened a restaurant near the Tennessee State University campus. It was closed Saturday evening, but had become a small memorial, where flowers, candles and notes had been placed outside the door.

McNair is survived by Mechelle, his wife of nearly 12 years; and sons Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton.
