Phoenix Sun's Amare Stoudmire's mother got arrested for DUI last night. A Scottsdale police officer stopped Carrie Mae Stoudemire, 54, about 3:25 p.m. on Saturday near. Carrie Stoudemire's Lincoln Navigator was straddling two lanes and was going about 60 mph eastbound on Shea Boulevard, police said.
Carrie Stoudemire told the officer that she wasn't aware that she needed to have an ignition interlock device on all of her vehicles and that the Navigator was rented. Her driver's license says that she must have the device on her vehicles until Oct. 30. The woman's eyes were "watery and glassy," the officer wrote. She told the officer she was on her way to an alcohol class.
Carrie Stoudemire refused to participate in a field sobriety test, so the officer handcuffed her and put her in the back seat of his patrol car. A few minutes later, Amar'e Stoudemire and another man arrived at the scene in a Bentley convertible. Carrie Stoudemire began to yell "Amar'e!" several times and asked for a lawyer, the police report said.
The officer asked Amar'e Stoudemire and the other man to leave "because they were causing Carrie to act out." Carrie Stoudemire was booked into the Scottsdale jail and later released. She is charged with speeding, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device and failure to drive in a single lane, police said.
No wonder her son can't focus when he' on the court. His damn mama is in the streets cutting up.
